Mission
At Light on Life Images, we specialize in documentary style photography to chronicle the distinctive story of your wedding, event or family and community life. We also specialize in documentary photography for non-profit organizations committed to social justice and the common good.
What's in a name?
I chose this name because light is a metaphor for truth, clarity and insight. The expression "to shed light on" describes the process of revealing the true nature of a situation, a person's character or an object. Light is also the essential element of vision and photography. Light on Life Images chronicles rituals, celebrations and milestones through documentary photography.
What is your style?
I'll photograph any formal and impromptu portraits you'd like as a part of documenting a wedding or an event, but my emphasis is on capturing key moments as they unfold and compiling the moments to tell your story.
Environmental Responsibility
I create stunning, eco-friendly wedding albums. Each album is custom-designed and hand-made, packaged in recycled and recyclable materials. With more than 50 leathers, PVC-free vegan leathers and fabrics to choose from, your album will reflect your taste and personality. Our albums are made in the USA, as are all their component parts.
My efforts to be green extend beyond your album. Instead of receiving watermarked printed proofs that will eventually sit in a drawer, you’ll have a password protected online proofing gallery. You’ll also receive a print credit, so that you can order high quality, responsibly printed images that you’ll want to display in your home.
I take other steps to protect the environment, including:
· Using and recycling rechargeable batteries,
· Using CFL bulbs in our home-office space,
· Turning off computers & power strips when not in use,
· Reusing packing & shipping materials,
· Recycling everything possible including composting organic and paper waste, and
· Using car sharing services & carpooling with assistants whenever possible.
About Kristi Sanford, the owner and principal photographer
The characteristics of the craft of photography stand in stark contrast to my previous work as an organizer for economic justice and workers' rights. I'm detail oriented and an observer by nature, so I'm drawn to the precision of the craft. But I'm equally energized by the process of connecting with new people and the challenge of documenting unique stories that each wedding, portrait session and documentary project brings.
